+ What are the fees?
Traditional Outdoor Ceremony: The fee includes ceremony site, chairs, photography permit (a $250 value), access to bridal suite, grooms lounge, restrooms inside the Bailey House, 2 hours with guests on site, 1 hour prior for getting ready and decorating, total of 3 hours on property maximum including photography. A Bailey House Manager will be on site. Private parking for up to 40 guests (16 vehicles), valet parking required over 40 guests. Up to 90 guests maximum, $1,500.
Minimalist Outdoor Ceremony: The fee includes ceremony site, chairs, photography permit (a $250 value), access to restrooms inside the Bailey House, 1 hour with guests on site, 30 minutes prior for decorating, total of 1.5 hours on property maximum including photography. A Bailey House Manager will be on site. Private parking area. Up to 40 guests maximum, $1,000.
Site Only Ceremony: The fee includes ceremony site only. This allows for 30 minutes maximum on property, no indoor access at all, no chairs will be provided by Bailey and no chairs may be brought in, no amplification of sound, no Bailey House Manager on site. Parking is available first come first serve in our general public parking lot, and portable restrooms are available in the same lot. Photography permit is not included but may be obtained separately. Up to 20 guests maximum, $500.
Private Party Event Rental: The fee includes use of the indoor sunroom, outdoor patio and adjacent lawn space, access to restrooms, 3 hours with guests on site, 1 hour prior for decorating. A Bailey House Manager will be on site. Private parking for up to 40 guests (16 vehicles), valet parking required over 40 guests. Catering must be provided by a licensed and insured caterer. Basic tables and chairs are available from Bailey Arboretum for an additional fee, or rental companies are available for more custom options. Seated capacity of 40 guests maximum, cocktail style capacity of 60 guests maximum, $1,000 site only or $1,500 with tables and chairs.
Deposits and Security: Deposits and Security: All wedding ceremonies require a $500 fully refundable security deposit at the time of booking. All private event rentals require a 50% deposit plus a $1,000 fully refundable security deposit at the time of booking. The 50% balance must be paid 30 days prior to event date.
+ Where are ceremonies held on the property?
Ceremonies at Bailey Arboretum may only be held in the Bird Garden or Rose Arbor.
+ Is Bailey Arboretum open to the public during my event?
Bailey Arboretum is not a private location and is open to the public between 9am and 5pm, Wednesday - Sunday, although ceremony and event locations are somewhat geographically secluded from the more commonly accessed public spaces of our grounds. All events are booked as an exclusive event for the day; therefore, no other event will be hosted on your date. Additional hours past those listed above can be booked at a rate of $300/hour. All events must end promptly at 10pm with no exceptions.
+ When are events permitted?
The only dates available in 2021 are selected weekdays (except Tuesdays, when the Gardens are closed). We will begin to take reservations for 2022 ceremonies in September 2021. Ceremonies on Saturdays and Sundays must be completed by 3pm.
+ Do I need obtain a permit for photography if I hold my ceremony at Bailey Arboretum?
A permit for a photography session is included with the rental fee (a photography-only permit fee is $250). The session may precede or follow the ceremony, but note that you are limited to an inclusive session of 1 or 2 hours in which to hold the ceremony and photography session dependent upon the type of ceremony booked. Please note that Site Only ceremony packages do not include the photography permit, but it can be obtained separately.
+ How many guests can Bailey Arboretum accommodate?
The guest limit is dependent on the type of event, with the highest number of guests not to exceed 90. Members of the wedding party as well as the officiant, wedding coordinator, photographer, musicians and others agents or vendors do not count as guests. Bookings are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
+ Is music permitted?
Soft music, live or recorded, is acceptable. Two 120v grounded receptacles are located in the Garden of Appreciation and an extension cord is provided upon request. Bailey Arboretum does not provide an amplification system. A list of local performers is available upon request.
+ What kind of decorations are permitted?
Limited floral decoration is permitted. Set-up may be no more than 1 hour prior to the ceremony and all decorations must be removed within 1 hour after the ceremony. Clean-up of flower petals is the responsibility of the users. Failure to comply with removal for floral decorations may result in funds withheld from the security deposit. The release of fake flower petals, birdseed, rice or balloons is not permitted. Bailey Arboretum does not aid in the decorating of the ceremony location, site fee includes set up and removal of white padded folding chairs.
+ Where do my wedding guests park and do they have to pay?
Bailey Arboretum staff will be on site to direct cars to the parking area, to direct guests to the ceremony location, and to enforce the terms and conditions of the agreement. Staff does not function as master of ceremonies or ceremony coordinators. Wedding guests do not have to pay for parking. Valet parking services may be arranged through Elite Parking Services, Bailey Arboretum’s exclusive valet company. Site Only Ceremony terms do not include parking; parking will take place in the general parking lot of the property and is available on a first come first served basis amongst other visitors to Bailey Arboretum.
+ What happens in case of rain?
Due to structural improvements that are scheduled to be completed by Nassau County, indoor ceremonies are currently on hiatus. As such, there is no indoor contingency option to accommodate rain. It is strongly suggested that you work out a tent back up plan with one of our tent rental companies if rain is forecasted in the days leading up to your event.
+ Does the ceremony fee include a rehearsal?
Yes, a ceremony at Bailey Arboretum includes a 1-hour rehearsal that may be scheduled prior to the ceremony date.
+ Does Bailey Arboretum require the use of specific vendors for florals, photography, and music?
No, but we do require a valid certificate of insurance naming Bailey Arboretum as additionally insured. We can provide a list of preferred vendors in our local area who are familiar with our unique property.
+ Does Bailey Arboretum require the use of specific caterers?
Yes, there is a list of local caterers who have already applied and been approved as catering vendors at Bailey Arboretum. They offer many options for all ranges of budgets and preferences, and are very familiar with the unique set-up at Bailey Arboretum. If you have a specific caterer in mind who is not pre-approved, please put them in touch with our Event Coordinator if they wish to submit an application for approval.
+ What are the steps needed to schedule an event?
